This year marks the first-ever Hockey Fights Cancer game at Rye Neck, an event that the team believes is a meaningful way to give back to the community. Through donations, fundraising efforts, and spreading awareness, the players and supporters are coming together to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
The event will feature special decorations and themed gear to show solidarity with those affected by the disease. Both the modified team and the varsity team will participate, with games scheduled for February 10th and February 11th, respectively.
A particularly heartfelt part of the event will be the recognition of five individuals who have been personally impacted by cancer, including a member of the coaching staff, a classmate of the coach, a varsity player’s grandfather, and a 15-year-old who was diagnosed and tragically passed away at 18. Their stories serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of this cause.
Rye Neck’s inaugural Hockey Fights Cancer game is more than just a competition—it’s a testament to the team’s commitment to making a difference and supporting those affected by cancer. Through teamwork, community spirit, and dedication, the players hope to establish a lasting tradition that continues to inspire and raise awareness for years to come.
