The inaugural Ryetown Harrison Hockey Fights Cancer game was more than just a night of competition—it was a powerful demonstration of community, resilience, and support for those affected by cancer. Representing the Harrison, Rye Neck, Blind Brook, and Port Chester school districts, the Titans came together with a shared mission: to raise awareness, funds, and hope.
A Game with Purpose
Held on February 10th and 11th, the event featured both modified and varsity teams, who took to the ice in specially themed gear to honor those impacted by cancer. The rink was transformed with meaningful decorations, reinforcing the message of solidarity and remembrance.
A deeply moving highlight of the night was the recognition of five individuals personally affected by cancer, including a member of the coaching staff, a coach’s classmate, a varsity player’s grandfather, and a young individual who lost his battle with cancer at just 18 years old. Their stories served as a powerful reminder of why this cause is so important.
Making an Impact
The event was filled with meaningful moments, including a ceremonial puck drop, an emotional “I Fight For” moment of silence, and a special announcement revealing the impressive fundraising total.
What started as a $2,500 goal quickly grew into something extraordinary. With overwhelming support, the Ryetown Harrison hockey community raised nearly $18,000—placing the program #4 in the nation out of 108 participating teams!
A Night to Remember
The evening wasn’t just about fundraising; it was also about honoring those who have battled cancer and bringing the community together. And to top it off, both the modified and varsity Titans secured big wins on the ice, making the night even more memorable.
Looking Ahead
This first annual Hockey Fights Cancer game set a high bar, and the Titans are determined to make it a lasting tradition. The incredible success of this event shows the strength of the hockey community and its ability to make a real difference.
Thank you to everyone who contributed, supported, and made this night possible. Together, we fight. Together, we win.
