Seaford service-minded students collect coats and more

January 23, 2023 By Team Up 4 Community Leave a Comment

A commitment to community service is the mission for the aptly named Service Club at Seaford Middle School, which recently concluded a successful winter clothing drive.

Students collected boots, coats, dresses, gloves, hats, pajama pants, scarves, sweatshirts and more for St. Vincent de Paul Church, which will provide them to people in need on Long Island. They sought donations for men, women, children and teens.

The collection drive lasted for about a month. Service Club members made posters that hung throughout the school and decorated donation boxes in the lobby.

“We tried to make the poster eye catching, so kids would see them and they could donate to help people,” said Service Club President Meridith Goldberger, an eighth grader.

Treasurer Jovie Hartmann, a sixth grader, added that the among of donations, which filled several large boxes and bags, “show that we care about the community.”

Service club advisers are Amanda Robilotto and Julia Spellman.
