On October 18, the South Side High School Girls Volleyball team proudly continued its tradition of hosting the annual Dig Pink game, an impactful event dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness and supporting research efforts. This event has become a defining part of the team’s commitment to making a difference both on and off the court.
The day began with an exciting match by the Junior Varsity team, followed by a spirited game from the varsity Cyclones. In a powerful show of solidarity, the players wore pink uniforms in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, standing with those affected by the disease.
The Dig Pink game brought the volleyball community together and served as a meaningful reminder of how student-athletes can use their platform to support important causes. Varsity captains spoke to the crowd about the significance of backing this effort, as parents and players hosted raffles, food sales, and t-shirt sales to benefit the Sideout Foundation. All proceeds from these activities went directly to the Foundation to support breast cancer research.
Through this annual event, the SSHS Girls Volleyball team continues to stand out as leaders in their school and community, using sports to raise awareness, generate funds, and make a positive impact.
