Each year, the Suffolk County Gymnastics Coaches Association hosts its beloved Coaches Invitational — a spirited event that brings together varsity gymnasts from across the county. Designed for athletes who do not qualify for the state meet, the invitational has evolved into something far more meaningful than a competition. It’s a celebration of teamwork, compassion, and community service.
This year, all 20 Suffolk County varsity gymnastics teams are rallying around a powerful cause: the Wounded Warrior Project. Dressed in red, white, and blue, athletes and coaches will honor and assist veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country. The meet serves as both a display of athletic skill and a heartfelt tribute to those who have served.
Funds raised through donations, concession sales, and 50/50 raffles will be directed to support the Wounded Warrior Project’s vital programs for veterans and their families. Over the years, this annual invitational has consistently made an impact — raising between $3,000 and $5,000 annually for meaningful causes such as supporting Wisconsin families who lost a child in a car crash and aiding the families of the Farmingdale marching band.
Beyond the scores and routines, the Suffolk County gymnastics community continues to demonstrate what it means to lead with heart. Their ongoing commitment to service reminds us that true champions shine brightest when they use their platform to uplift others.
