At Team Up 4 Community, we love celebrating the powerful ways student-athletes are making a difference off the field—and Utah State University is a shining example of what it means to give back.
Utah State Athletics has been ranked No. 13 in the NCAA Division I Helper Helper Top 25 for community service and engagement during the 2024–25 academic year. With more than 4,147 volunteer hours contributed throughout Logan and the Cache Valley community, USU student-athletes created an estimated $144,274 in economic impact (based on the national volunteer hour value of $34.79).
The commitment to service extended across multiple programs. Six teams earned top 10 rankings nationally in their respective sports categories for total hours volunteered:
-
Men’s Tennis – No. 2
-
Women’s Tennis – No. 3
-
Men’s Basketball – No. 5
-
Softball – No. 7
-
Women’s Basketball – No. 7
-
Women’s Soccer – No. 10
“Utah State student-athletes continue to display their impact in Logan and the Cache Valley Community, volunteering over 4,000 hours of community engagement opportunities,” said Diana Sabau, USU Vice President and Director of Athletics. “Our impact in athletics extends beyond competition in games, creating a well-rounded student-athlete experience.”
A huge driver behind these efforts? The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which brought together representatives from all 16 of USU’s NCAA Division I programs. SAAC contributed 741 of the total hours through 139 individual service commitments at 23 different events.
From mentoring local youth to participating in food drives and community clean-ups, USU’s student-athletes showed that leadership isn’t just about athletic performance—it’s about stepping up to make their community stronger.
Way to go, Aggies! You’re proving what it means to truly team up for community.
