Valhalla High School student-athletes spent their Saturday volunteering alongside the Mt. Pleasant Police during the annual Mt. Pleasant PBA Community Day. Their time and enthusiasm helped strengthen the connection between students and local law enforcement while giving back to the community in a meaningful way.
The Mount Pleasant PBA Day is a beloved police open house event run by members of the Mt. Pleasant Police Benevolent Association (PBA), with officers volunteering their own time to engage with residents. Visitors had the chance to explore police vehicles, take guided tours of the department, meet K-9 units, and see special equipment demonstrations—all designed to build trust and understanding within the community.
Under the leadership of School Resource Officer Anthony Stella and with the support of Valhalla Athletic Director Tara Lahm, seventeen Valhalla student-athletes volunteered throughout the day. The students helped with event setup, greeted families, handed out giveaways, and even painted faces and served popcorn and hot dogs for guests.
“This is the second year we’ve had Valhalla student-athletes volunteer for the event, and both years have been a success,” said Officer Stella. “I hope our student-athletes learned the importance of giving back to the community. Volunteering allows them to connect, meet new people, and develop valuable social skills.”
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Officer Stella and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department for creating this opportunity and for their continued partnership with the Valhalla School District—showing how teamwork and service go hand in hand, both on and off the field.
