About:
The Silver Lake Boys Hockey program embraced the holiday season by giving back to the Kingston community, volunteering their time to help prepare the town’s annual luminaries—a cherished tradition that brings neighbors together and lights up Kingston each winter.
This year, the entire boys hockey program, made up of approximately 37 student-athletes, volunteered for five hours to assist with the preparation and setup of the luminaries alongside the local fire department. Although the team was unable to participate in the second phase of the event due to a game later that evening, their efforts still played a key role in creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere throughout the town.
The luminary project has long been a tradition within the Silver Lake Hockey program, continuing even before the current coaching staff took the helm. Now in his third year as head coach, the program’s leader has proudly followed and preserved this meaningful tradition, recognizing it as a valuable opportunity for the team to come together, give back, and support the Kingston community.
Through this hands-on service initiative, Silver Lake Hockey demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and pride beyond the rink. By spending a Saturday working together and serving their town, the players not only strengthened community traditions but also shared in the joy and spirit of the season—helping ensure the holidays in Kingston shined a little brighter.
