About:
Student-athletes and community members came together for a meaningful cause during a recent varsity basketball doubleheader, turning game day into an opportunity to give back through a Toy and Clothing Drive benefiting the South Shore Foster Closet.
Fans attending the doubleheader were encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or new clothing item, earning free admission to the game while supporting children and families in foster care. The response highlighted the power of athletics to unite a community around service, generosity, and shared purpose.
All donations collected during the event will be distributed directly through the South Shore Foster Closet, helping ensure that children in foster care have access to essential clothing and comforting gifts—especially meaningful during the winter season. By connecting service with a high-energy school sporting event, student-athletes helped maximize participation and awareness for an important local need.
The Toy and Clothing Drive reflects the leadership and compassion of the basketball program, demonstrating how student-athletes can use their platform to make a positive impact beyond the court. Efforts like this reinforce the idea that success is measured not only by performance in competition, but by the ability to support and uplift others.
Through teamwork, community engagement, and a shared commitment to giving back, this varsity basketball doubleheader proved that small acts of kindness—when multiplied—can make a big difference.
