About:
South Side High School’s Pets for Vets Club recently demonstrated compassion and leadership by organizing an online pet supply drive to support an emergency animal rescue effort led by Paws of War.
The initiative was launched to provide urgently needed supplies for dogs in Mississippi living in difficult and unsafe conditions. Working alongside law enforcement and multiple rescue partners, Paws of War was engaged in a time-sensitive mission to protect and care for the animals.
To help meet these needs, the student-led club created an Amazon wish list featuring essential items, including food, supplies, and care products. Donations from the community were sent directly to the organizer’s home before being delivered to the Paws of War facility in Nesconset.
Through this service project, students took the lead in raising awareness and mobilizing support for a meaningful cause. Their efforts highlighted the power of youth-driven initiatives to make a real difference — not only for local communities but also for those in need beyond their immediate region.
Projects like the Pets for Vets supply drive continue to show how student leaders can inspire action, demonstrate empathy, and build stronger connections through service.
