Students from the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District proudly represented their community at the Annual Long Island Region Special Olympics Spring Games held on May 2 at Alfred G. Berner Middle School, bringing home an impressive 14 medals across a variety of events.
District athletes earned six gold medals, four silver medals, and four bronze medals while demonstrating determination, teamwork, perseverance, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The student-athletes representing the district included Max Bellucci, John Cooke, Katy DeBellis, Chase Gold, Tatum Hauck, Victoria Jenkins, Daniel Mayer, Jack McEneny, Jake Pizzarelli, Joseph Reyes-Saravia, Emily Regan, Leonardo Rodriguez, Luke Roffi, and Olivia Stone.
Adding to the special atmosphere of the event was a performance of the national anthem by Ms. Anna Grottola, helping create a memorable experience for athletes, families, volunteers, and spectators alike.
The event was also supported by a dedicated group of Northport High School student volunteers who cheered on participants and helped ensure the day’s success. Their commitment and encouragement highlighted the power of inclusion and community support through athletics.
The Special Olympics Spring Games continue to provide meaningful opportunities for students to compete, connect, and celebrate their achievements while inspiring everyone involved through their courage, positivity, and determination. Congratulations to all of the athletes and volunteers for proudly representing Northport-East Northport with enthusiasm and heart.
