About:
Mount Sinai High School’s varsity cheerleading team brought creativity, school spirit, and compassion together through its Pink Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser, spreading pink cheer throughout the community while supporting an important cause during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The fundraiser was a tremendous success, bringing residents together to support the cheerleading program while also helping a local mother currently battling breast cancer.
Flocking for a Cause
Throughout the month, Mount Sinai’s varsity cheerleaders organized a festive flamingo-themed fundraiser, spreading pink cheer throughout their community.
The creative initiative encouraged community participation while raising funds and awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The team’s efforts demonstrated how student-athletes can combine school spirit, teamwork, and community involvement to make a meaningful difference beyond their athletic activities.
Supporting a Mount Sinai Mom Battling Breast Cancer
One of the most meaningful aspects of the fundraiser was the team’s decision to donate a portion of the proceeds to Cheryl Hicks, a Mount Sinai mother and alumna who is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment.
By dedicating part of their fundraising efforts to someone within their own school community, the cheerleaders demonstrated compassion and the importance of standing together during difficult times.
The initiative served as a reminder that behind every fundraiser are real people and families whose lives can be positively impacted by the generosity of others.
A Community United Through Pink Cheer
The success of the Flocking Fundraiser reflected the incredible generosity and support of the Mount Sinai community.
Through teamwork and a shared commitment to helping others, the varsity cheerleaders turned a fun, spirited activity into an opportunity to give back.
Their efforts highlight how student-athletes can use their creativity, leadership, and enthusiasm to inspire others and create positive change.
