About:
The Mendon Boys Soccer team is taking its teamwork beyond the soccer field and into the community with its “Help Us Kick Hunger” Food Drive, an initiative benefiting the Pittsford Food Cupboard.
With a shared goal of fighting hunger and supporting local families in need, the student-athletes are coming together to collect essential food and household items for their neighbors.
Kicking Hunger, One Donation at a Time
As part of the initiative, Mendon Boys Soccer players organized a neighborhood collection effort, visiting homes throughout the community on Sunday, September 20, between 10 a.m. and noon, to pick up donated items.
Residents were encouraged to leave contributions on their porches, making it easy for community members to participate and support the cause.
The food drive focused on collecting items most needed by the Pittsford Food Cupboard, including:
- Nonperishable foods: Corned beef hash, Spam, ketchup, chicken broth, bread crumbs, taco shells, and smaller jars of jam or jelly.
- Pet supplies: Dry dog and cat food.
- Household essentials: Cleaning supplies and tissues.
Community members were also encouraged to make monetary donations directly to the Pittsford Food Cupboard through Venmo.
