BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

November 18, 2014 By Team Up 4 Community

The Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has held Jennifer Montgomery Breast Cancer Awareness month every October since 2007. The event is held in honor of Jennifer Montgomery, the wife of former Associate Athletic Director/Head Men’s Soccer Coach Robert Montgomery, who was diagnosed with breast cancer and is now in remission.
Every October students, athletes, faculty, staff, friends and the community participate in a walk to raise money and awareness, purchase raffle tickets for the opportunity to win one of the many great prize baskets that are annually available and buy “Think Pink” t-shirts and merchandise in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

The department sells raffle tickets for the entire month of October and all prizes are donated by Adelphi’s athletic teams and members of the Adelphi community. All proceeds from the month will be donated to the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Awareness Hotline & Support Program. To date, the Athletics Department has collected over $20,000 for the program.
