Bump, Set, Donate

March 31, 2015 By Team Up 4 Community

For the second consecutive year, fifth-grade students at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School in the Harborfields Central School District participated in a Charity Volleyball Tournament with all proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Coordinated by the physical education teachers Christine Collins and Michelle Turchiano and teacher Danielle Donohue, the Charity Volleyball Tournament drew in about 20 teams made up of more than 210 students. A $5 donation was collected from every participant, allowing them and their teammates to take to the courts for several rounds of friendly volleyball matches. With the collaborative efforts from students and faculty, the event raised $1,058.

On March 24, Shelly Psaris, Ronald McDonald House Charities volunteer and representative, visited TJL fifth-grade students to graciously accept the donation and inform them how the money they raised will help sick children and their families.
“The money you have raised will make people feel loved and cared for,” Psaris said.
