More than 300 students gathered in the Elwood-John H. Glenn High School gymnasium for the school’s annual charity volleyball-a-thon on Feb. 23.
The event represents one of the largest high school fundraisers of the year, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Sean Urda Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund, in memory of a former Elwood-John H. Glenn student.
Coordinated by the physical education department, student council and teacher Therese Regan, more than 50 cleverly named teams battled one another on the volleyball court from 3-9:30 p.m. for the ultimate bragging rights of volleyball-a-thon champs. In the end, the team that walked away with the title was “Keys to Success,” but the true champions were the students who came together and raised a total of $3,200 for the two causes.
The district extends a special thank you to all who participated and donated to this terrific event.
