Calhoun Girls’ Basketball Awarded for Hosting Clinic

February 3, 2016 By Team Up 4 Community

Team Up 4 Community, an interactive website that highlights athletes’ community service acts, is running a school year-long community service challenge to encourage Long Island youth athletes to participate in giving back in service to their communities.
Each month they select a winner from the community service stories shared and for January they recognized the Sanford H. Calhoun High School girls’ varsity basketball team, along with Coaches Peter Magnuson and Matt Fuentes, for their community service work in hosting a clinic for younger children during the December break. The prize was a gift card to Frank’s Steaks in Jericho.
In addition, the team just clinched their first playoff berth since the 2009-10 season.
