About:

Abbie Beneford was a former Hopkinton High field hockey player who sadly passed away due to anaphylaxis in 2013.

Abbie was a great kid and a memorable member of the Hopkinton field hockey family.

This is my first year as Head Coach of the Field Hockey team here at Hopkinton High School, but from what I learned, the field hockey team has always hosted some type of fundraiser to honor Abbie’s memory, raise awareness for anaphylaxis, and raise money for TheKeepSmilin4AbbieFoundation, a nonprofit dedicated to stopping anaphylaxis.

Covid paused the event for a year or two, but my players took it upon themselves to continue that tradition. And when they approached me with the idea of hosting a “Keep Smilin'” game, I was thrilled to continue the tradition.

“It’s a piece of Abbie. It’s a trace of my daughter and people are remembering her. She’s not here anymore and all we have are memories and stories.” https://www.metrowestdailynews.com/restricted/?return=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.metrowestdailynews.com%2Fstory%2Fsports%2Fhigh-school%2F2022%2F10%2F17%2Fhopkinton-ma-field-hockey-hosts-fundraiser-late-teammate-abbie-benford%2F8237376001%2F
