About:
Auburn High School Softball is stepping onto the field this Friday with a purpose that goes far beyond wins and losses—rallying their community in support of children and families battling cancer.
Partnering with Fight Like a Kid, the team will host a powerful Childhood Cancer Awareness Game, turning a day at the field into a meaningful show of strength, support, and unity.
“This isn’t just softball.” It’s a community coming together to stand beside families facing unimaginable challenges—and to remind them they are never alone.
The event will bring energy and purpose to every moment, featuring activities like face painting, hair tinsel, concessions, and opportunities for attendees to pledge their support. But the heart of the day will be found in the connections made and the message shared.
One of the most powerful moments will come from the ceremonial first pitch, thrown by a special young athlete in honor of her sister Ellie, who bravely battled neuroblastoma and OMAS. It’s a moment that will undoubtedly bring the entire community together in reflection, strength, and hope.
Through this initiative, Auburn Softball is showing what education-based athletics is all about—using the platform of sport to lead, to give back, and to make a lasting impact.
Every inning, every cheer, every show of support will carry a deeper meaning.
Because on this team—and in this community—no one fights alone.
