About:
This past Friday, October 4th, Bellingham High School’s Volleyball team hosted their annual Dig Pink event in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Blackhawks called on the community, and many joined them for an exciting night of volleyball, all while contributing to a cause that touches so many lives.
Now in its 9th year under current leadership—and likely running even longer—this beloved event has become a true tradition for BHS Volleyball. Each October, the team selects a home game to dedicate to breast cancer awareness. The gym was decorated with posters and pink streamers, and the players wore pink jerseys to show their solidarity. But Dig Pink was more than just a visual statement. Alongside thrilling volleyball matches, attendees enjoyed raffles and a bake sale, with all proceeds supporting breast cancer research and awareness.
Over the last two years, the team has taken a more personal approach, donating the funds raised to the college funds of two local sisters who recently lost their mother to breast cancer. This heartfelt gesture added even more meaning to an already impactful event.
For everyone involved, Dig Pink was a night of community, camaraderie, and giving back. It was a great opportunity to support the team while making a meaningful contribution to breast cancer awareness and local families affected by the disease.
Thank you to everyone who joined the BHS Volleyball team for an unforgettable evening of great volleyball, fun activities, and a powerful cause. Together, we made a difference!
