About:
The BHS Soccer program continues to make a difference both on and off the field through two powerful initiatives — their Cancer Awareness Game and their participation in the MDSC Buddy Walk.
During their annual Cancer Awareness Game, players came together to honor loved ones who have battled cancer and to raise awareness for the cause. The event was filled with heart and purpose, reminding everyone that the game was about more than competition — it was about connection, compassion, and community. All proceeds from the match were donated to Tanner Tatas, a local organization that provides crucial support for individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
In addition to their efforts on the field, the team also joined in the Buddy Walk, a statewide campaign organized by the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC). The Buddy Walk promotes acceptance and inclusion for people with Down syndrome through fundraising events that support key programs such as Parents First Call, Advocates in Motion, the Self Advocate Advisory Council, and Your Next Star Employment Center.
The team’s participation was especially meaningful, as one of their families is deeply involved with the organization — inspiring teammates to walk, support, and celebrate inclusion together.
Through these efforts, BHS Soccer continues to demonstrate that true leadership extends beyond athletics. By dedicating their time and energy to these causes, the players are showing what it means to play for something bigger than themselves — and to make every game an opportunity to give back.
