About:
The entire team showed up, all 35 players. We also had me and 3 other coaches that were able to make it.
I had some players walking the full perimeter of the school grounds picking up trash and debris from the parking lots, fields, and courtyard and emptying the trash cans that are found around campus.
We got to the school at 8:30 am and finished by 10 am.
The reasoning for doing this was the grounds were just not being kept up with. Our district did not have an “official groundskeeper” for the past few years. They brought the position back this year, but the person doing it is currently injured, so it has not been kept up with to the extent it should be. The trees, foliage, and vines surrounding the track were taking over the fence and growing towards the outer lanes of the track. The trash cans around campus are not emptied on a regular basis, so that is a problem as well. As a team, we just want to have our grounds looking good, and when we have home games we don’t want our track and field looking like a dump. So we cleaned it up!
