About:
Each year on Veterans Day, the Chelmsford High School football program takes part in a meaningful tradition that goes far beyond the game.
Led by their coaches, the team participates in a silent walk to Veterans Memorial Park to observe a ceremony honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. This powerful moment of reflection provides student-athletes with the opportunity to pause, show respect, and recognize the sacrifices made by veterans and their families.
More than just a gesture, the walk reinforces the values of gratitude, respect, and service—reminding players of the freedoms they enjoy because of those who came before them.
The program also took time to recognize two individuals who hold a special place within their community—Coach Petrilli and Coach Harp, both veterans whose service and sacrifice continue to inspire those around them. Their presence within the program serves as a daily reminder of leadership, commitment, and selflessness.
Through this annual tradition, Chelmsford Football demonstrates that the impact of athletics extends far beyond the field. By honoring veterans and engaging in acts of remembrance, these student-athletes are learning the importance of community, appreciation, and what it truly means to be part of something bigger than themselves.
