About:
On February 15, 2026, the Danvers High School community came together for a meaningful day of basketball and remembrance during the annual Ed Gieras Games—an event that celebrates legacy, service, and the lasting impact of sport.
Spanning multiple levels of play, from 7th and 8th grade matchups to Danvers varsity boys and girls games, the day honored Ed Gieras, a legendary figure in Danvers High School basketball history. Ed’s love for the game and his courageous battle with Huntington’s disease continue to inspire this annual tradition, created to preserve his memory through the sport he cherished.
Beyond competition, the Ed Gieras Games serve a powerful purpose. 100% of funds raised are donated to the Ed Gieras Scholarship Fund and Huntington’s Disease Research, supporting both future students and ongoing efforts to combat the disease.
By bringing together youth players, high school athletes, families, and the wider community, the event highlighted how athletics can unite people around compassion, remembrance, and meaningful impact. The Ed Gieras Games remain a powerful reminder that sports can honor the past while investing in hope for the future.
