About:
The Dracut High School Baseball program continues to demonstrate that their impact extends far beyond the diamond. With a strong commitment to community service, the team has made service and outreach a central part of its identity, proving that leadership and teamwork are just as important off the field as they are on it.
On Monday, May 20, Dracut Baseball hosted a memorable Senior Day Celebration that doubled as both a game day and a charitable event. Spectators attending the varsity and JV matchups against Methuen were invited to bring non-perishable food donations, supporting a food drive for the Dracut Food Pantry. Drop-off stations were set up at both fields, and thanks to the generosity of the community and the collaboration between the Dracut and Methuen programs, the team once again filled a pickup truck with donations. After the game, several players personally delivered the items to the food pantry, an effort that was met with heartfelt gratitude.
The food drive was initially planned as part of a preseason tournament, but when that event was rained out, both teams came together to make it happen during the season instead. Their joint effort to “play to fight hunger” is a testament to the sportsmanship and community spirit shared by both programs. As Coach Steven Talbot shared, āIām very proud of both teams. We came together off the field, even as we competed on it.ā
The May 20 event was just one of several community service initiatives the Dracut players have embraced this year. On May 3, team members volunteered their time to assist with a local home cleanup project, lending a hand to improve their neighborhood directly. And going back to November 24, 2024, the team once again stepped up by supporting the Friends of Dracut Middies Athletics, waking up early and showing strong presence and energy.
Though this season has been a rebuilding year on the field, Dracut Baseball continues to grow stronger as a team through their commitment to service. From fighting hunger to supporting local families, they are leading by example, proving that success is not only measured by wins, but by the difference you make in your community.
