About:
Student leadership and community impact were on full display in Duxbury, where local student-athlete Colby Cleveland turned an idea into a lasting resource for the entire community through his Eagle Scout project.
Recognizing a need and taking initiative, Colby led the creation and installation of the first public bike repair station in the Duxbury area—a project that will benefit residents, cyclists, and visitors for years to come.
From Idea to Impact
Inspired after seeing similar bike repair stations in nearby towns, Colby envisioned bringing the same resource to his own community. After presenting the idea, the town quickly supported the plan, approving the installation.
From there, Colby took full ownership of the project—raising the necessary funds, planning each step, and working alongside his father to bring it to life. Together, they installed the repair stand and completed the concrete work, ensuring a durable and lasting addition.
Leadership in Action
Colby’s project wasn’t done alone. Fellow students Jack Geisler and Lee Kelly contributed their time and effort, helping bring the vision to completion. Altogether, the project required 50–60 hours of dedication, reflecting a strong commitment to service and leadership.
A Lasting Community Resource
The impact was immediate. As the installation took place, local cyclists stopped to express their appreciation and excitement. Now, as the first of its kind in Duxbury, the repair station provides a convenient and practical resource for anyone out on the road or trail.
