About:
On Veterans Day morning, Bishop Feehan’s Freshman Football team chose to honor the meaning of the day through action. Instead of sleeping in or relaxing, 32 freshman players gathered at FeedRI to volunteer their time and energy — and their commitment made a powerful impact.
The boys spent the morning assembling meal packages for individuals and families in need. Working in teams, each athlete took on a specific role — scooping rice, weighing ingredients, sealing bags, and boxing completed meals for shipment. Together, they prepared over 4,000 meal packages, a tremendous accomplishment that will directly support food-insecure households across the region.
Before the work began, the players helped set up the warehouse with tables and equipment. Throughout the project, they rotated stations to experience every step of the process, learning teamwork in a new environment and seeing firsthand how small, consistent actions can create meaningful change.
After completing the packaging, FeedRI staff brought the boys on a tour of the facility. The behind-the-scenes look showed them exactly where the food goes, who it helps, and why volunteerism is so essential — leaving a lasting impression on every student-athlete.
Their willingness to show up, work hard, and serve others reflects the very best of Feehan Athletics. Moments like this demonstrate how sports help shape leaders — not just through competition, but through compassion, character, and community.
In honoring Veterans Day with service, these young athletes lived out the true spirit of the day: giving back, lifting others, and choosing to make a difference.
