About:
Feehan High School’s Hockey Fights Cancer Night continued its meaningful tradition this winter, bringing together student-athletes, families, and the broader community in support of the American Cancer Society. Now in its fourth year for the girls’ team, the event has become a powerful annual highlight for both the boys’ and girls’ hockey programs.
This year’s Hockey Fights Cancer games took place on Wednesday, January 21st, with both teams proudly wearing special white and purple jerseys created specifically for the night. Players also used purple stick tape provided by the American Cancer Society, reinforcing the message of awareness and solidarity throughout the rink. One of the most meaningful traditions of the event is that athletes can keep their jerseys after the game, serving as a lasting reminder of the cause they represented.
Beyond the action on the ice, the night offered opportunities for the community to participate and give back. Players sold Feehan Fights Cancer bracelets and shared a team donation link across social media to help raise funds and awareness. In the rink lobby, players, coaches, families, and friends created heartfelt “I Fight For” signs, honoring loved ones who have battled, are currently battling, or have lost their fight against cancer. The display served as a powerful visual reminder of the personal stories behind the cause.
Parents also played a key role, organizing basket raffles and a 50/50 raffle during the games to further support fundraising efforts. Through online donations alone, the teams have already raised nearly $800, with additional funds from bracelet sales and raffles still being collected and counted.
The impact of this event continues to grow year after year. Last season, Feehan Hockey raised more than $4,000 for the American Cancer Society, and this year’s total is expected to build on that success.
Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Feehan is more than a game—it is a reminder of the strength of community, the leadership of student-athletes, and the powerful role sports can play in raising awareness, honoring loved ones, and supporting life-saving causes.
