About:
The National Honor Society e-board at Silver Lake continues to strengthen its commitment to meaningful, engaging service. For the November NHS meeting, members were encouraged to bring a food item to donate to the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless, while guest speakers — including Rick, who presented on time management — added to the day’s impact.
The food drive quickly expanded beyond NHS members. Announcements through Laker Block and faculty emails opened the effort to the entire student body, staff, and school community. After seeing the schoolwide message, Rick suggested extending the initiative even further by inviting attendees of the November 7th football game to donate food items in lieu of admission.
NHS members, Faculty Council member Ms. Ricci, and advisors collected donations throughout the game, ultimately filling her car with contributions. The success of the drive reflects the generosity of the Silver Lake community and the leadership of the NHS students who continue to model the spirit of giving.
