About:
The Gloucester Fishermen Hockey team collaborates with their local police organization, called “Kops N Kids” during the holidays for a toy drive.
This is the second year in a row that they have collaborated with them to hold a toy drive for children in the City of Gloucester. Every year the toy drive looks a little bit different, but always the same goal – to provide much needed Christmas presents to children in their city.
This year they asked their hockey community to support the team by donating toys. Some players drove to family, friends, and neighborhood houses to collect the toys ahead of time. Other community members brought the toys to one of their preseason scrimmages.
On December 6th the Kops N Kids community impact van came to their preseason scrimmage. They were able to pack the van with all the toys collected ahead of time and toys being brought to the game that night. Every fan who donated a toy received a free gift and was entered into a raffle.
The GHS Hockey Booster organization raffled off a season pass for free entry to all home games this season.
The drive this year was very successful. Not only did they pack the community impact van with toys, but the Fishermen Hockey team was able to give back to the community that supports them every week during their winter season. The boys on this team were able to see firsthand what a positive impact they can have on their community.
“I am very proud of this team for all the ways they give back to the city that supports them.”–
