About:
Gotham Avenue School’s Student Government recently organized a spirit week, “The Great Gray Wolf Grade Level Challenge” for their schoolmates.
Throughout the week, students participated in grade level activities, such as a reading challenge, which required them to read at least one book and a physical challenge as part of their physical education classes. They also took part in charitable endeavors.
The Student Government held a bake sale to benefit Cohen’s Children Medical Center, raising more than $400 for the hospital. They also encouraged students in each grade to donate toiletry items to help those in need. In all, the school collected more than 1,000 items, such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet papers and body wash to Social Services Volunteers of Nassau County.
Members of the Student Government boxed all of the items collected for the Nassau County organization and presented them to representative Lynne Campbell on April 18. Campbell thanked the students for their generosity and explained that the students’ donations would help children in foster homes and families in shelters.
