About:
The 20 players on the team were asked to help out by going to local business and asking for donations that could be used as raffles for our during game fundraiser. We asked players to spread the word to increase attendance for the night at the rink. Players also attended an off ice practice where we had a couple guest speakers discuss their experiences with Ovarian cancer. One of the speakers was Keelan Boyle- who was a player on the team 4 years ago- currently a senior in college. During her junior year of HS her mother, Maria, fought ovarian cancer. Maria also spoke at our meeting about how ovarian cancer is a silent killer. She was also joined by former Hopkinton police officer and now Mass State police officer Molly McGaffigan who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer while in high school. The idea for the game started 5 years ago because of Maria and Keelans experiences, the game has been played 3 times, missed twice because of covid. It has grown from an awareness game into a fundraiser that made more than 2000 dollars this year.
