About:
The Lincoln-Sudbury Girls Volleyball team recently came together for their annual Dig Pink match, a special event aimed at raising awareness and funds for breast cancer. The gym was adorned with pink decorations, and the players wore pink uniforms, symbolizing their commitment to the cause. This year’s match carried extra significance, as the team chose to dedicate the event to breast cancer once again in honor of their assistant coach Megan Braun’s mother, who bravely battled the disease last season and is now cancer-free.
The Dig Pink initiative is a meaningful tradition in the volleyball community, representing unity in the fight against breast cancer. Each year, the Lincoln-Sudbury team selects a charity that is personally important to them for a fundraising match, and this year, the choice was clear. Despite their coach’s family now being in a better place, the players were determined to show continued support for their coach and her loved ones.
The team’s efforts extended beyond the game itself, with a t-shirt fundraiser and bake sale as part of the event. Although the total amount raised is still being tallied, with leftover items set to be sold at an upcoming match, the commitment of the players, families, and fans was evident throughout the evening. The community rallied together, creating a powerful atmosphere of compassion, athleticism, and solidarity.
Lincoln-Sudbury Volleyball would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the Dig Pink match. The event served as a reminder of how sports can be a platform for positive change, impacting lives far beyond the court. The team’s dedication demonstrates that the spirit of giving and supporting one another is truly what makes the game meaningful.
