The entire program, 41 athletes, helped out.
The athletes were responsible for spreading awareness in the school and community for the event. They posted signs around school, made announcements over the intercom leading up to the event, used the program instagram and twitter accounts to promote the event. The players were expected to contribute baked goods that would be sold during the games and painting pumpkins to be sold. The girls were responsible for setting up the tables, pumpkins, raffle items, setting up balloons and other decor. The program raised a little over $1600 at this event.
This event takes a lot of planning over the month leading to the event. Each girl spent approximately 5-10 hours creating signs, spreading awareness, baking goods, and setting up for the event.
This event also includes our youth program of over 100 players. The youth players join the varsity program during halftime of the varsity game for a photo and an opportunity to play on the “big field” under the lights. Members of our team are passionate about this cause, going into school as well as they are members of our “Protect Our Breast” chapter.
Other service activities by the team have included:
Volunteering this past Saturday for a youth clinic. We hosted 60 players grade’s kindergarten to 8th grade. They also volunteered their time reffing and working with our youth program over the weekend.
