About:
Entire Freshman Class – 200 students. MHS staff is assigned to each site for supervision.
Students went to sites – 8:30am to 11am.
Sites include – Council on Aging, Goldthwait Reservation, Devereux Beach, Fire Department, Conservancy, Police Department, Magic Hat Thrift Shop, Middle School, Elementary schools, on campus at MHS.
One group partnered with Spur to make meals to be delivered to a shelter.
We have run the Day of Service for 5 years. We had to take a break during COVID but brought it back last year. It has been a tradition for our freshman class.
It originated with help from students (Senior Project) for design and input from MHS staff.
Great way to give back to the community, make connections and create a sense of community for our students.
Feedback was very positive – sites reported our students were engaged, worked diligently, and represented MHS with pride.
“Very proud of our students and staff for their efforts.” — Daniel Bauer, Principal Marblehead High School
