About:

The team had their game against Newburyport on Saturday 1/14 and that was their mental health game in honor of Rachel Mckay.

Rachel was a former teammate, co-captain, and friend of Coach Brittany Smith. She was on this same Marblehead team about 10 years ago. She was an amazing girl and a great athlete. She went on to play hockey and golf at William Smith in NY and they were able to play against each other in hockey in college.

The team used the same foundation as last year, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and raised $10,219 for this foundation! Here is the link to the foundation page. https://tiltify.com/@dgmckay/mental-health-awareness-rachel-mckay

They fundraised by doing word-of-mouth and social media posts, a Bruins ticket raffle, and bake sale.

Rachel’s parents, Debbie and Dave, were in attendance and they spoke briefly prior to the puck drop and they did a ceremonial puck drop with her parents and the captains prior to the start of the game.
