About:

All of the girls on the XC team are asked to promote the fundraiser on their social media accounts. There are 15 girls.
Ava LoVuolo is in communication with Funds2Orgs and makes sure the team has enough shipping bags to mail the shoes, tracks the money being earned, and helps organize the shoes being shipped.
Other teammates, as I mentioned are promoting the fundraiser and screening sneaker donations (must be athletic shoes, no holes, clean, and tied in pairs). Eleanor Angeles-Whitfield is tasked with collecting the donations that get dropped at practice.
It’s not too time consuming as essentially the girls post about the fundraiser and drop off donations to practice or to Ava’s house.
Girls have mailed 8 bags of sneakers, which is about 160 pairs.  The girls provide donation boxes at all their cross-country meets and have seen the most success at the larger Saturday meets as other teams are beginning to take notice and are donating their retired running / racing shoes.
The girls XC team wanted to give back to Marshfield. They decided they wanted to donate to Community Christmas in Marshfield and hope to make this a new annual fundraiser for the team. Their goal is to donate $500 to Community Christmas. Funds2Org makes fundraising simple and since the girls know first hand how quickly they go through their running shoes, they thought it would be an easy way to help others by recycling their running shoes.  Funds2Org essentially sends the used sneakers to families in other countries who then resell the sneakers.  In this way, the sneakers are being recycled, poor families are making some money, and others are getting a great recycled pair of sneakers that they wouldn’t have otherwise.  The team earns back about $.50/pair and they are donating the money back to their community.  It’s a win win for all and ties nicely into their favorite shoe…running!
