About:
For the second year, Manchester Essex Regional High School (MERHS) is hosting Morgan’s Message dedication games across multiple sports. The school’s own chapter of Morgan’s Message, which includes over 100 student-athletes from various teams and programs, demonstrates a strong level of participation, especially for a student body of just 389.
The chapter holds monthly meetings focused on raising awareness about the importance of prioritizing mental health among student-athletes. These meetings also aim to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where athletes feel comfortable discussing their challenges. Additionally, guest speakers are invited to address various topics related to mental health.
Each season, the dedication games serve as an opportunity to promote Morgan’s Message, bring attention to the significance of mental health, and raise funds for both the national organization and the school’s chapter. During the games, student volunteers manage an informational table, answer questions, and collect donations. They also read a special dedication script to start each game. Participating teams show their support by wearing Morgan’s Message shirts during warm-ups. Although supply chain issues prevented the distribution of wristbands and stickers to visiting teams this year, the school remains committed to spreading the message throughout the community.
These efforts reflect how the students at MERHS are leading the charge in fostering a positive and open dialogue about mental health in athletics.
