About:
Allie Hawkes was a former swim captain for me who passed away in December after numerous bouts with cancer. She was an amazing young lady whose spirit will live on in Methuen and within our swim community forever. She is the strongest & bravest person that I have ever known.
As you saw from that social media post, we are honoring her this season with the AH hearts on our caps.
Over the years, our team has done numerous fundraisers and community service projects to aid & assist her and her family.
– We sold “Rally for Allie” sunglasses at school & to the community
– We hosted fundraiser meal nights at Joe’s Crab Shack & more recently at Chipotle
– My assistant Abby Tremblay organized & ran a hair tinsel fundraiser for students, staff & friends at Jay Gee’s in Methuen
– Abby also sold Pura Vida Bracelets in the Allie’s favorite colors to raise funds to defray the cost of her medical bills
– Our team all made no-sew blankets to be donated to Tufts Children’s Hospital
– MHS Swim & Dive alumni collected money to donate to Lucy’s Love Bus in Allie’s honor
