MitoAction and the Matthew Harty Camper Fund.

This year’s event was a special one as we had two games, back-to-back, as part of the fundraiser. The first game featured the HPNA Girls Varsity Hockey Team (Haverhill-Pentucket-North Andover) which has the twin sister of Matthew Harty, Gabby, who is a junior on the team. The second game was the North Andover boys Varsity Hockey Team, which contains many players that were the same age as Matthew growing up.

The captains for both teams began working in the fall to design special jerseys for the event that featured the MitoAction logo on the chest, with the Matthew Harty Camper Fund logo on the shoulders. The jerseys also contained the names of Matthews siblings, parents, and grandparents along the bottom stripe of the jersey. Players from both teams worked for about a month collecting donations and gift cards to be raffled off at the event along with promoting the event at school, on social media, and throughout the town. This year’s event raised over $3000 for MitoAction and the Matthew Harty Camper Fund.
