Northbridge High School’s “Northbridgeatrons” are embarking on a shoe drive fundraiser, which will run from now until January 12, 2024. The Northbridgeatrons proudly represent Northbridge High School’s inaugural robotics team.
This fundraiser operates on the basis of the total weight of gently worn, used, and new shoe pairs collected. Funds2Orgs will calculate and issue a check to the Northbridgeatrons accordingly.
All contributed shoes will find new life within the Funds2Orgs network, supporting micro-enterprises (small businesses) in developing nations. The proceeds from selling these shoes enable these businesses to provide for their families, offering much-needed economic opportunities and jobs where they are scarce. In addition to aiding communities abroad, this initiative reduces the environmental impact of discarded shoes in landfills.
Alicia Simonti, Coach of the Northbridgeatrons and an Engineering Teacher at NHS, expresses enthusiasm for the shoe drive, stating, “We’re excited about our shoe drive. We understand that many people have extra shoes in their closets they might be willing to donate. This not only helps us raise funds for our Robotics Team but also extends a helping hand to families in need around the world. It’s a win-win for everyone!”
Donations can be conveniently dropped off in the Northbridge High School lobby during school hours or handed directly to students for team collection. By contributing gently worn, used, and new shoes to the Northbridgeatrons Robotics Team, you’re giving these shoes a second chance and making a positive impact on people’s lives globally.
The track meets serve as an additional avenue for the Robotics Team to collect shoes for their fundraiser. Their track team is playing a role in contributing to this noble cause.
