About:
At our home game a few weeks ago against NQ (our cross town rivals) we raised money for the Bonica Family. Priscilla was a setter that graduated in 2021. She was a four year volleyball, basketball and softball player. Great student and planning on going into the healthcare field. Her brother Adam plays on our high school’s boys’ volleyball team as well and their younger sister Marilyn also plays volleyball.
In the Spring of 2021 Priscilla was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called HLH, a few months later it was discovered that she actually had a brain tumor. Ever since Priscilla has been battling cancer and receiving treatments.
Last winter our basketball team hosted an endowment game for Priscilla called Bigger than Basketball. We decided to host a game this Fall and we called it the Volleyball edition. Tomorrow at our rival game at NQ, the NQ girls’ team has asked to make it another fundraiser for the Bonica’s. We will again be taking donations, selling t-shirts, croc charms, and NQ is raffling off a scratch ticket board. All donations will go to the family.
Our motto (between Quincy High and North Quincy volleyball) has been, “On the court we compete, but together we fight.” The term, “Fight like a Nice Kid” has also been coined by some of Priscilla’s friends. We are selling t-shirts that we made up last winter and also bracelets with those terms on them.
