About:
Our team had participated in “Coaches vs. Cancer” Event, which took place on January,21 2024. The purpose of this event was to raise funds for the American Cancer Society (ACS), honor the fallen and celebrate the survivors.
The game was held in honor of our head coach’s first cousin Carrin Caracciolo, who lost her life at the age of 43 to ovarian cancer.
The team had created an Eagles Boys Basketball page (directly connected with ACS) and we also ran a 50/50 raffle and had other raffle prizes available. The team went around local businesses and restaurants, promoting the event and was able to collect many gift cards and gift certificates from local sponsors.
The team raised a total of $3321.02.
The check that the boys are holding has a lower amount due to the fact that we had people donating after we presented the boys with the check. We also had 3 captains speak about the event, raising awareness about cancer and all the wonderful work that the American Cancer Society does.
Boys wore teal socks and teal wristbands (during warmups) as teal color is a color for ovarian cancer. In addition, the team held a moment of silence and raised signs with the names of loved ones who passed away from cancer or survived cancer. Attached please find some pictures from the event.
