About:
For years, the Silver Lake Girls Volleyball team has proudly hosted an annual “Pink Out” match to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Each October, this special event transforms the court into a sea of pink, with players, fans, and the community coming together to support an important cause.
The highlight of the month is the designated “Pink Out” match, where the team goes all out in support of the fight against breast cancer. Leading up to the event, the team sells specially designed pink shirts at the concession stand, with proceeds benefiting a breast cancer research organization. Fans and supporters can show their solidarity by purchasing these shirts and wearing them to the game.
On the night of the match, the concession stand offers an array of pink-themed treats, including cupcakes, cookies, and candies, adding a fun and festive atmosphere to the cause. The players embrace the pink theme as well, wearing pink socks, ribbons in their hair, shoelaces, and, thanks to the Boosters, brand-new pink jerseys for this year’s home matches throughout October.
The “Pink Out” isn’t just a one-team effort; it’s a tradition shared by many schools as a way for athletics to give back and raise awareness. It’s a powerful reminder that sports can be a platform for change, helping to fund the quest for a cure and bringing communities together in the fight against breast cancer.
The Silver Lake Girls Volleyball team is proud to continue this tradition, hoping that their efforts on and off the court will contribute to a brighter future for all those affected by breast cancer.
