On Saturday, October 28th, 13 members of the Whitman Hanson Golf team dedicated their time to community service in two different towns.
First, 10 team members arrived at a local residence in Hanson. Their mission was to prepare the elderly widow’s yard for winter by mowing the lawn, raking leaves, and trimming bushes. They worked diligently from 8 am for just under 2 hours, completely transforming her yard.
Between 9 and 10 am, another 4 team members headed to the Whitman Stop & Shop to participate in the Trunk or Treat event. This event aimed to raise money, collect canned goods, and food donations for the local food pantry. The athletes were present for the entire duration of the event, from 10 am to 2 pm.
Altogether, the team contributed a total of 6 hours of community service. Each year, the team captains take the lead in organizing 1 or 2 volunteer projects as a way of expressing gratitude to the community for their continuous support.
