About:
Our Athletic Leadership Council is composed of 9 student/athletes who were nominated by their coaches. They all must be in high academic standing and play at least 2 sports.
For this year, they helped fundraise and put together 22 Thanksgiving meals that we delivered to Middle and high school families.
For Christmas- we are doing 25 “holiday boxes” filled with snacks, quick easy to make foods (mac and cheese) etc, basic toiletries and things like that. We also have 6 full turkey dinners to hand out to our most needy families. So, for our first 2 boys bball games and our first girls bball game, they set up a table to collect food items and money. We then take the money to BJs and stock up on foods to complete the baskets. The kids will put them together thursday morning and then our SRO and myself will deliver the meals. The ALC kids do NOT know who the baskets are going to!!!
The kids also help to make posters and get word out about these games and events.
We also hand out baskets before february and april break and provide “weekend food” for kids in our school who may go without on saturdays and sundays.
