About:
The Wakefield High School community is making a powerful statement—coming together across multiple sports to support student-athlete mental health through Morgan’s Message.
From the basketball court to the wrestling mat and beyond, Wakefield athletes are showing that the message of Human > Athlete is more than a slogan—it’s a movement.
A School-Wide Commitment
In January, both the boys and girls basketball teams hosted highly successful Morgan’s Message dedication games, bringing awareness and community support to the forefront. The Wakefield Basketball Boosters further amplified the impact with a generous donation to the organization.
Special recognition goes to senior captains Dylan and Emma, along with the coaches and staff, for leading these meaningful efforts.
Impact Across Programs
The message didn’t stop with basketball.
- Gymnastics hosted an awareness meet
- Track & Field joined the movement
- Marching Band organized a dedication event at Landrigan Field
- Girls Hockey expanded awareness through team leadership
Each program played a role in creating a unified front—reinforcing that mental health matters in every corner of athletics.
Wrestling Leads the Way
The Wakefield Wrestling program also hosted a dedication meet vs. Lynnfield-North Reading, delivering both impact and inspiration.
Morgan’s Message ambassadors Emanuelle, Alla, and Emma helped lead the event—sharing powerful words and ensuring the message resonated with everyone in attendance.
More Than a Game
What makes Wakefield’s efforts so impactful is the collective buy-in from across the school. Student-athletes are not only competing—they’re leading conversations, supporting one another, and helping break the stigma surrounding mental health.
With support from leaders like Rory McNeill and so many others, Wakefield continues to build a culture where no athlete feels alone.
Because at Wakefield, it’s about more than just a game.
