About:
Walpole High School’s field hockey program recently made a powerful impact off the field by participating in the A Shot For Life field hockey game, helping raise more than $60,000 to support cancer research.
Caroline Handwerk, Ella Dacey, and Nadia Michienzi represented Walpole with pride, joining athletes from across the region in a special showcase event dedicated to fundraising and awareness. Through their participation, the players not only competed at a high level but also contributed to a larger mission focused on advancing research and supporting those affected by cancer.
Events like A Shot For Life highlight how athletics can serve as a meaningful platform for advocacy and philanthropy. By using their skills and visibility to promote an important cause, student-athletes help bring communities together while inspiring others to get involved and give back.
The success of the event — raising over $60,000 — reflects the collective commitment of athletes, organizers, families, and supporters who came together to make a difference. For the Walpole field hockey players, the experience provided an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, compassion, and the true spirit of teamwork beyond competition.
