About:
For the past 10 years, the Waltham High School boys hockey team has proudly volunteered at the annual Paddy’s Road Race, a local event organized by WHS hockey alum Pat O’Hara and his family, who own Paddy’s restaurant. This year, the race saw a record-breaking 2,100 participants, with proceeds benefiting Newton Special Athletes.
Each year, the players arrive bright and early at 5:00 a.m. to help set up tables, barriers, and other necessary equipment for the race. This year, 17 players participated, continuing a tradition the team has wholeheartedly embraced. The O’Hara family deeply appreciates the team’s dedication and contribution to making the event a success.
In addition to their work with Paddy’s Road Race, the WHS hockey team has also been involved in a long-standing partnership with the East Coast Jumbos, a hockey organization for athletes with special needs. For the past 15 years, Waltham players have volunteered on the ice every Saturday morning, dedicating two hours to support and coach the Jumbos. This meaningful collaboration has created a lasting impact on both the players and the athletes they assist.
Waltham Boys Hockey’s commitment to community service not only strengthens bonds within the local area but also fosters a sense of teamwork and leadership that extends beyond the rink.
