About:
One of the first ever inductees into the St. John’s Prep Athletic Hall of Fame (Len Femino) has been hosting the US Track and Field race for many years. He and I serve on the Board of Trustees for the Beverly School for the Deaf/Children’s Center for Communication. In 2016 I suggested that my water polo players run the water station to support the event. Each year 30-40 of the student athletes have showed up extra early and put in their service. This year I think we had almost 800 runners. It was a good amount of cups/water.
The event is special as the proceeds support the 95 special needs students that attend the school.
I would suggest that anyone who is willing schedule a meeting with the school to see what they are doing to help. On one side of the building a student can do their classwork and work with their fellow students. On the other they can get their physical therapy/services without having to leave the campus. I’ve personally witnessed students go into their early childhood in wheelchairs and leave walking out the front door. It is truly a special place.
